One of our core values from day one is to "be good to our environment". What does this mean? It means we switch off our lights and computers at night, it means we don't print paper, it means we eat things past their due by date instead of throwing them out. It means we live and breathe an environmentally conscious lifestyle. We aim to produce the most environmentally friendly product at all costs.
How are Nu Pods environmentally friendly?
Low carbon footprint
To produce 4 ounces (113 grams) of beef, a typical US beef production system will consume over 2,370 litres of water and emit 2.5 kilograms of CO2 into the atmosphere.
That’s the equivalent for daily drinking water for 1100 people, or 263 minutes of shower time, or a 14km car ride!
By choosing plant-based ingredients, you can make a significant contribution to our environmental impact of food. You don’t have to go full vegan, but every bit counts and together we can make a huge impact on the environment and climate change.
Producing a product that is both convenient and environmetally friendly has been our mission from the start. Our pods will be manufactured to OK Compost EN 13432 standards, which are some of the strictest composting standards in the world. We are committed to making a product that is better for the environment and better for you. It has taken us longer and cost alot more money, but we think it’s worth it.
Sustainable food source
There are approximately 800 million people worldwide suffering from hunger and malnutrition and over 1.9 billion overweight. It’s easy to see that we have some problems with global food production and food security around the world. With the worlds population set to surpass 10 billion by the year 2050, this is a problem that needs to be addressed today. We have set some serious goals to tackle the global world hunger crisis and see our nu pods, not only used for time-poor people looking for healthier fast food, but also in humanitarian situations, like natural disasters or areas of famine as an emergency source of nutrition.
